SITES TO VISIT:
A. The Asinan Site in Sta. Fe, Alburquerque, Bohol preserves the traditional production of Asin Tibuok, an enduring example of how local communities have sustainably utilized coastal resources through generations of indigenous knowledge. More than a cultural heritage practice, the site illustrates a nature-based approach to resource management by working with locally available materials and natural processes while maintaining ecological balance. It demonstrates how traditional livelihoods can strengthen cultural resilience, promote sustainable coastal stewardship, and inspire community-based solutions for a changing climate.
B. The Marine Uplifted Terrace at Punta Cruz, Maribojoc, Bohol showcases Bohol's remarkable geological history, where ancient coral reef formations have been elevated through natural tectonic processes after the Bohol Earthquake in 2013. As a significant geosite in the only declared Bohol Island UNESCO Global Geopark, it highlights the dynamic relationship between geology, coastal ecosystems, and human communities. The site underscores the value of conserving natural landscapes as foundations for biodiversity, climate adaptation, geo-heritage education, and nature-based planning that enhances the resilience of both people and the environment.
